MFP Help Desk Technician

Rhyme is seeking an MFP Help Desk Technician to join our team in Portage, Wisconsin. This position will be responsible for working remotely with our office equipment clients to troubleshoot and solve their printer and MFP issues. We’re looking for an individual with some experience in a help desk role, who is willing to learn new technologies and excited for potential growth within the organization.

  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and configure printer, MFP, facsimile, scanner, computer system, and software issues through phone or remote support connection for both internal and external customers.
  • Setup MFPs, printers, facsimiles, scanners, and interactive whiteboards.
  • Install, configure and troubleshoot (Tier 1 and 2) Sharp, Xerox, Kyocera, HP and other vendor software including print drivers, printer utilities, and scanner software and utilities.
  • Administer managed print services software by installing new clients; performing maintenance, including data collection and reporting troubleshooting; and providing ongoing user training.
  • Perform Tier 1 troubleshooting, configuration, and administration of the following as they pertain to MFPs, printers and interactive whiteboards:
    • Wireless network configuration
    • Microsoft server based print queues
    • Anti-virus and firewall programs
    • Microsoft Windows 7 and newer operating systems
    • Microsoft Office 2010 and newer
    • Microsoft Office 365
    • Apple OS
  • Assist with internal desktop support and malware identification and removal on Rhyme assets as needed.
  • Learn, train, and consult with internal and external clients on applicable features, products, or technologies.


  • An Associate’s Degree in Information Technology or related fields of study; or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent customer service, listening, and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic math, written communication, and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Knowledge and use of:
    • Internet Protocol (IP) addressing
    • Microsoft Desktop and Network Operating Systems
    • Common security applications
    • Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)
    • Domain Name System (DNS)
    • Server Message Block/ Common Internet File System (SMB/CIFS)
    • Basic command line troubleshooting tools
